Winemaker’s Comments:
The grapes stand on red alluvial soils, specifically on hot north facing slopes. The terroir is karoo-like, with hot, dry weather. The dry terroir helps create a nice ‘raisin-like’ aroma in the wine. The grapes are picked late afternoon, to ensure over ripe fruit. The juice ferments only for a couple of hours and then wine spirits is added. This stops fermentation due to the high alcohol content and ensures natural sweetness of the fortified wine.
Serving Suggestions:
Enjoy this wine after dinner or as a sundowner with crushed ice.
